BUILDER STORY

Olive Crest

We are proud to be Olive Crest's Builder Captain for 4 homes in the City of Coachella.

The principals of Family Development take the importance of family and home very seriously. Headed by two sets of brothers, Antun & Vincent Barbato and Rudy & Raymond Herrera, and now their fifth “brother,” Robert Bishop, every member of the Family Development team looks at each home they build as if they were building it for their own family members. With well over 120 years of collective experience to guide them in every facet of the development process, since 2003, Family Development has been responsible for building nearly 1,000 homes in the Coachella Valley and developing land for many more.

Since their formation, the principals of Family Development have also placed a strong commitment on working with local charities to share their success with those that need it the most – the families of the Coachella Valley. Although market conditions have certainly experienced drastic ups and downs, Family Development’s commitment has not wavered in the best of times or the worst.

When the real estate market was at its all-time peak, Family Development built the Home With A Heart. Organizing over 200 workers from 80 different companies, Family Development built a four bedroom home from the foundation up in just 52 hours over one amazing weekend; it was reminiscent of an old-fashion barn-raising. Once it was completed, the Home With A Heart was auctioned to the public raising over $400,000 dollars for two local family-centered charities - The Barbara Sinatra Childrens' Center and the Family YMCA of Palm Desert

When Olive Crest began their search for a partner to help them realize their dream of building the Coachella Valley Children’s Center, they reached out to the entire building community. In spite of the fact that now the real estate market was experiencing its worst downturn in modern history, Family Development was the first company to volunteer to be a Builder Captain. Under the careful guidance of Family Development, the Children’s Center is now open.

Family Development’s commitment to their community can be seen in the quality neighborhoods they design, the homes that they build and the charitable acts that they are so dedicated to support.
